Later, as the growth rate of the Saudi economy slowed down, the group recognized the trend early and successfully controlled its overheads, with the result that it remained in excellent financial condition despite the changes in the economy. It is common to describe enterprises like the AZAQ Group as "trading companies". This phrase is no longer an adequate description of the AZAQ Group, if indeed it ever was.
