MEEM – Middle East Electrical Motors Factory Company has been recognized by Siemens Energy, in the presence of Saudi Aramco, for its contribution to one of the Kingdom’s significant localization achievements: the successful delivery of the first Saudi-made compressor skid for Saudi Aramco’s Fadhili Gas Increment Project.
The recognition highlights MEEM’s role in supporting the development of advanced local manufacturing capabilities within Saudi Arabia’s energy and industrial sectors.
As the only manufacturer of low-, medium-, and high-voltage electric motors in Saudi Arabia, MEEM designed, manufactured, tested, and delivered seven high-voltage motors for the project. Each motor is rated at 7 MW (9,387 HP), operates at 13.2 kV, and was specifically engineered to meet the demanding requirements of critical compressor applications.
The motors were developed with a high-efficiency design for continuous critical-duty operation and certified for hazardous-area installation under Class I, Division 1 requirements. Importantly, the motors were designed, manufactured, and tested locally at MEEM’s facility in Saudi Arabia.
MEEM’s participation in the Kingdom’s first Saudi-made compressor skid demonstrates the growing ability of Saudi manufacturers to provide sophisticated, mission-critical equipment for major energy and industrial projects while meeting demanding technical and operational standards.
The achievement also reflects the importance of collaboration between local manufacturers and leading organizations such as Siemens Energy and Saudi Aramco in strengthening local content, developing national industrial capabilities, and expanding the role of Saudi-made products within strategic projects.
